ARK AT SHE

Dani Johns standing near the Bristol Suspension Bridge

Ark At She! is Dani’s love letter to Bristol’s working class women. Real stories brought to life with humour, heart and a healthy dose of Bristol sass.

The project is a research and development initiative supported by Arts Council England and Bristol Museums.

At its core, Ark At She! is an exploration and celebration of working class women in Bristol’s history. It’s about finding the women the history books forgot because, let’s be honest, they’re usually too busy banging on about middle class blokes.

It’s about uncovering the extraordinary in the ordinary, because not everyone worth remembering needs a Nobel Prize. And it’s about discovering the humour, warmth and humanity in history, even through the toughest of times.

While the final form of the project is still to be confirmed, Dani is actively gathering stories and voices. The outcome may take the shape of an exhibition, an oral history, a live performance or something else entirely, but whatever it becomes, it will be proudly Bristol.
